Beebug was established
in 1982 with the aim of offering hardware, software, advice and
solutions to customers. The name Beebug formed by the popular computer
system, at that time, the BBC Micro, with the BBC being collectively
known as the 'Beeb' we had the beginnings of a name. We add the
UG, which stood for User Groups, and voila Beebug was named. |

When Beebug began operations
Microsoft was not the dominant operating system that it is today.
There were several different companies, each with their own Operating
Systems and hardware. The majority of our support was for BBC computers.
We not only supplied they systems, software and technical support,
but we even designed and built our own hardware, software and also
published a monthly magazine, some of which you can still find today!

|
Beebug grew in size
and stature with our magazines, software programs, hardware and
technical support proving popular. However, with the advent of the
PC and the rise of Microsoft, Beebug’s future was spilt: either
to continue with its expertise in Acorns and BBC’s or head
down the relatively new path of the PC. With hindsight we can see
that we made the right choice and abandoned our beloved BBC. |
|
Through existing contacts Beebug began offering a PC solution. The growth of IT in the business world began to be mirrored in schools.Schools soon realised that IT knowledge would prove a valuable resource to their pupils in later life and began to teach skills that would be required in the commercial sector. We saw an opportunity to offer our knowledge and created an attractive solution for schools. This solution has grown and developed into the solution that we offer today. Schools now form the core of our business and as they are our main client base we have a vested interested to keep abreast of all the latest developments and government initiatives. |
|
We also support a number
of different businesses who are very satisfied with our tailored
solution. |
